Cultural Savvy works with clients to create a Consulting Scorecard© to put metrics on each and every intervention to assure a return on investment. This consulting scorecard assists our clients in measuring a ROI that is specific to their organization and business. Some of the questions we pose are: (rated on 1 – 5 scale)

Sample Consulting Projects


Performance Management Workshop

Developed a series of workshops to implement pay-for-performance in Japanese and Korean subsidiaries for a leading U.S. software firm. Designed, developed, and conducted Performance Management Workshop to assist non-U.S. managers in conducting meaningful performance reviews with their subordinates. Worked closely with International HR department to appropriately adjust and adapt performance management planning system to respective national and business cultures.

Japanese Executive Assessment 

Consulted with a U.S. health care company to select a new Japanese President for their home care business in Tokyo. In conjunction with executive search firm, assessed Japanese candidates on managerial and intercultural success factors that impact communication and problem solving with American staff at headquarters and other locations.

International Development Management Program

Managed new hire and mid career hire development program for leading global consumer goods company to train and develop Japanese managers and technicians for overseas assignments and technology transfer projects in the U.S. and Asia Pacific region. This intensive, 18-week immersion-training program was designed to maximize essential management and business communication skills for global business. Results included faster promotions, more overseas assignments and greater retention of company personnel.

Global Teambuilding Workshop

Facilitated cross-cultural teambuilding sessions for a U.S./ Japan joint venture company building a semiconductor fabrication facility in Texas. Provided mono-cultural training workshops for U.S. and Japanese personnel that provided essential team communication and problem solving skills. Joint team building session was held to identify and resolve on-going team issues that had adversely impacted the joint venture. 

Negotiating Successfully With the Japanese 

Designed, developed and delivered a negotiation simulation for a U.S. semiconductor company’s worldwide supply organization dealing with Japanese suppliers of capital equipment and essential commodities for silicon wafer production. Seminar focused on cultural variables in time orientation, decision-making, problem solving, and conflict resolution that impact negotiations across cultures. Teams conducted simulations to practice newly acquired skills and prepare for future negotiations with Japanese in the U.S. or in Japan. (This seminar was successfully utilized to prepare a negotiation team for a U.S. oil company in negotiating a $300 million dollar joint venture with the Chinese government and state-owned partner company.)

Leadership Development Consulting 

Designed, developed and delivered an two-day orientation program for a U.S. medium-sized integrated systems maker that prepared Japanese managers for leadership positions in their Japanese subsidiary. Interviewed, assessed and trained Japanese candidates on headquarters’ expectations of leadership, including individual ownership, taking initiative and problem identification, resolution and escalation. Assisted U.S. top management in the selection and development of Japanese personnel through overseas assignments and training programs. Assisted employees develop polished communication skills, including interviews, presentations and sales calls.

Global Business Workshop 
Conducted globalization workshops for Fortune 500 companies to develop an awareness of the forces driving globalization in their businesses. This step-by-step, hands-on workshop provided US managers skills and strategies for dealing with global customers, partners, employees, suppliers, distributors, government officials or investors. The workshop focused on developing individual and team cross-cultural competence needed to be responsive in doing business around the world, establishing cross-cultural business relationships, and learning how to adapt to people from other countries.

Executive Coaching 

Provided one-on-one and team coaching sessions for two US pharmaceutical companies that were conducting research and business in Asia. Team coaching sessions focused on how to train, assess and host Asian scientists and technicians who would be responsible for national and regional protocols and drug testing. One-on-one sessions were conducted with senior managers on how to lead, motivate and develop Asian managers for promotion and career developing assignments at headquarters.
